Since 2021, Europagymnasium Klagenfurt has been accredited as an Erasmus+ school in the field of school education and is therefore part of a Europe-wide educational network. Erasmus+ opens up valuable opportunities for our school community to cooperate within the EU and enables exchange across cultural, linguistic and academic boundaries. Stays abroad within Europe strengthen students’ awareness of democracy, promote multilingualism and provide opportunities to expand knowledge and skills in the humanities and natural sciences.
In addition, the programme also offers teachers the opportunity to participate in international training courses and professional development activities, as well as to get to know partner schools better through so-called “job shadowing” and gain insight into other school systems.
Stays abroad allow participants to become familiar with new methods, broaden their perspectives and create networks far beyond individual partnerships. In this way, Europagymnasium Klagenfurt remains open, curious and future-oriented.

Types of Mobility
Short-term Mobility (Students)
Short-term mobilities enable students to spend several days to several weeks (2–4 weeks) at a partner school in another EU country. Participants can gain their first international experiences, develop enthusiasm for using a foreign language actively, deepen and expand their knowledge and skills, and build international networks.
Long-term Mobility (Students)
In long-term mobilities, students spend several weeks (more than six weeks) up to an entire school year at a partner school abroad. They immerse themselves intensively in the culture and language of the host country and sustainably develop both academic and personal competences. They gain insight into different ways of living and learning and strengthen their independence and sense of responsibility. Long-lasting international friendships often develop beyond the exchange itself.
Group Mobility (Students)
Several students travel together as a group to a partner school to participate in workshops, projects or programmes. This form of mobility strengthens teamwork skills, intercultural competence and collaborative learning and is an excellent opportunity to gain initial Erasmus+ experience in a familiar environment.
Courses and Training (Teaching Staff)
Teachers can take part in professional development courses, workshops or specialist training abroad within the Erasmus+ programme. They expand their methodological and didactic knowledge, learn innovative teaching approaches and bring new ideas back to the school. After returning, they share their experiences with colleagues so that the entire teaching staff benefits from the stay abroad.
Job Shadowing (Teaching Staff)
During job shadowing activities, teachers accompany colleagues at a partner school abroad during lessons. They observe teaching practices, exchange views on pedagogical concepts and gain practical insights into other European education systems.
