{"id":2890,"date":"2013-05-27T06:08:30","date_gmt":"2013-05-27T05:08:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.europagymnasium.at\/\/?p=2890"},"modified":"2021-12-28T13:04:58","modified_gmt":"2021-12-28T12:04:58","slug":"english-language-and-the-brain-prof-christina-valaki-klagenfurt-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europagymnasium.at\/de\/2013\/05\/english-language-and-the-brain-prof-christina-valaki-klagenfurt-university\/","title":{"rendered":"(English) 6c: Language and the Brain &#8211; Prof. Christina Valaki, Klagenfurt University"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>6c: Language and the Brain \u2013 Professor Christina Valaki, Klagenfurt University<\/b><\/p>\n<p>On 17<sup>th<\/sup> April, Professor Christina Valaki of the Alpen-Adria University in Klagenfurt and Trieste University visited the classes 6C and 7C to give a talk about the human brain and how it processes language.<\/p>\n<p>Building on knowledge that our pupils have gained in biology and psychology lessons, Professor Valaki explained what happens when we are confronted with language. In particular, topics such as bilingualism and dyslexia (Legasthenie) were discussed. \u00a0Professor Valaki, a Greek national who usually lectures to university students of English, prepared the presentation especially for our pupils and they were full of praise!<\/p>\n<p><strong><i>Schally Valerian:<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><i>It is very interesting to learn more about different brain regions and linguistic aspects. I liked especially the information about the connection between them.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><strong><i>David Lautner:<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><i>We should\u00b4ve done this in biology for at least a year! Fascinating!<\/i><\/p>\n<p><strong><i>Viktoria Cesar:<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><i>I really enjoyed the presentation! I\u00b4ve learned a lot about the brain. Continue doing this, because you have an amazing voice, it\u00b4s really nice listening to you!<\/i><\/p>\n<p><strong><i>Fabian Slamanig:<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><i>Thank you for the great performance in front of 6c. I\u00b4ve learned a lot and the way you presented the brain and its functions was very interesting.
